Big Push Needed for Stonehaven Dialysis Unit

In 2010 the NHS Grampian Renal Unit were left a legacy of £250,000 for dialysis machines. After discussion, it was felt that this was best identified as a capital fund towards a satellite renal unit in South Aberdeenshire as this is the one area within Aberdeenshire that as yet is not served by a Renal Dialysis satellite unit.  The new unit would cover a large area – from as far south as St Cyrus, across to Luthermuir and up to Fettercairn, Banchory and across to Portlethen.

Meet Ed and find out more about the Effective Community Group Pack

I’m Ed Garrett and I work for the Council for Voluntary Service Aberdeenshire. My role is to support local community and voluntary groups with things like constitutions, funding and business planning.

As  part of this we developed in partnership with Community Learning and the Business Club in Laurencekirk the Effective Community Group pack. This pack contains a whole host of useful material for new and developing groups, from how to write a constitution to roles of office bearers. I’ve just finished some additional inserts to go in the pack with information on campaigning, publicity, child and vulnerable adult protection, monitoring and evaluation, fundraising and event management, recruiting new members, data protection and risk assessment.

Soap Making Business Enterprise in Stonehaven

forestviewIn 2012 our Accredited ASDAN Business Enterprise Group came up with a business plan to make and sell soaps in our service and offer them to our local community.
The group work as a team with each member having specific jobs to do, and these include researching, marketing, promoting, recording the incomes and outgoings as well as making the actual soaps themselves.  Read the rest of this entry »
