Family Hand

Are you a parent?  Could you use your experience to help make a difference to local families?

“…of all the agencies, departments, organisations we have had help from…Home-Start has been the most helpful, consistent, reliable and supportive.”

Home-Start Kincardine is a voluntary organisation which offers free confidential support and practical help to parents with young children in the local community.

We are currently recruiting volunteers who will visit families in their own home; usually once a week for a couple of hours.  Our volunteers help out in families with diverse issues, from isolation, disability, depression, exhaustion, poverty etc.

Being a parent gives you all the skills you need to be a Home-Start volunteer.  If you are a warm, compassionate, caring, understand the demands of bringing up children, and have

2-3 hours per week to spare, we’d love to hear from you.

What would I do?

Volunteers offer “hands on” practical support with feeding, changing and playing

  • Take the children out to the park to give mum/dad a rest
  • Look after the children whilst mum/dad attends an appointment
  • Help with transport for clinic/hospital appointments
  • Accompany mum/dad on first visits to parent and toddler groups
  • Spend time listening and encouraging parents

How do I Get Started?

As a parent, you already have the necessary practical skills, so our Home-Start Kincardine training course will give you the depth of knowledge and confidence to use your experience to help local families.

“The help was perfect – it helped me hugely.  My volunteer was so positive and inspirational.”
