Not Everyone’s Cup Of Tea…….

Posted on Updated on

Trish Hughes, Volunteer Befriender with Kincardine & Deeside Befriender spends time with Margaret. Going for walks, shopping or visiting the garden centre.  However, weather-permitting, one thing loved by both is visiting local cemeteries!

Their shared love of history and through  Margaret’s reminiscences of her upbringing in Stonehaven  has enabled the two to spend  many a happy hour in the cemetery.

Changing trends, traditions and a growing population has led to a move  from  huge headstones with all deceased family members’ names, to smaller plots and headstones. Sometimes only a plaque exists when ashes have been interred.

This can make gathering history more difficult but still makes an enjoyable visit.  Whilst Trish and Margaret appreciate this is not everyone’s ‘cup of tea’, it highlights the different ways which befriending time can be spent.
