The ASDAN accredited Creativity group at Forest View is a Lifeskills course designed for members who require physical and emotional support to engage in activities. The group is multi-sensory in its approach, and draws on people’s creative skills in a selection of many different activities from Music and Movement, art and crafts and physio with sensory activities.
The course helps with
- hand and eye dexterity,
- mobility,
- enhances social skills and
- helps build confidence whilst encouraging members to be as creative as possible and think outside the box.
The Creativity course encourages interaction with others in the local community to promote inclusion, whilst also affording the members the chance to experience others activities such as bowling, educational walks and tours of castles and gardens and listening to different types of music from other cultures.
Music Module

Within Forest View Centre we have covered 2 modules already of this ASDAN programme. My kind of Music involved the group listening to different types of music and each other’s favourite CDs. We also made “shakers” from plastic bottles with a variety of items like buttons, small stones and sand inside them to create different multi-sensory sounds. We had a music and movement session and also a Music Therapy Session where we played drums and other instruments like bells and sang songs along with a musician.
Painting Module
For our Painting module we used Easter and Spring as our theme.

We went on a trip to Crathes Castle and Duthie Park to get inspiration from flowers and trees starting to bloom.
Finally we made fruit smoothies and Queen cakes which we iced like flowers and invited other ASDAN groups from the centre to come and see our display.

Why don’t you come and see us sometime? We have soap on sale at reception and some lovely rooms that we hire out at very reasonable rates to local groups and activities in the evenings and weekends.
